Things at The Spanish Place work quite differently from what you might have experienced in the past. The class schedule is designed to be flexible & self-paced. Instead of paying by the class, you pay by the month. Your "month" is different from anyone else's because it starts when you start. For example, if you start on the 20th of the month, then your membership lasts until the 20th of the next month.

With a monthly membership, you can choose which classes you would like to attend in any given week. You mix & match the classes to fit your schedule. One week, you may be able to attend the Happy Hour Conversation & the Grammar Wednesdays class. Another week you may just have time for the conversation class. The following week, you may not make either one, but instead you might come to the Intermediate Reading class. All classes stand alone, so by missing one week you're not thrown off course.

Also, there is no homework & there are no exams. I do give suggestions for further study if you would like it, but the idea is to have no obligations once you leave the classroom. Even the writing class has no outside work; you write your essays right there in class. Since there are no exams, you are not pressured to finish a particular topic by any certain date. You can take a class as many times as you want until you feel that you understand the topic. For example, some people keep coming back for the class on the subjunctive!

In addition, there is a study library where you can go to study on your own, say before or after class. I have resources available for you or you can bring your own study materials. There is a comfortable TV room where you can have a cup of coffee & try your skills at reading the newspaper in Spanish.

If you feel you want more motivation in your studies, there is always the opportunity to give a presentation at the First Friday ¡Fiesta!. One person gave a presentation on her collection of Oaxacan wood carvings. Another gave a talk on Day of the Dead. You could bring in some travel photos & talk about them en español.

A monthly pass is $125 & entitles you to attend any & all classes that you can fit into your schedule during your month. You can also use the other amenities at The Spanish Place whenever you want. A day pass is $35 & allows you to attend any & all classes that particular day, plus use the other resources at The Spanish Place on that day.

Please feel free to stop by anytime & take a look around, or contact us to learn more.
